Difference between Laminate and Melamine

Melamine panels and plastic laminate are used to build cabinets, office furniture and countertop, and white boards.
These two are frequently interchangeable in some sense, but the two materials are somewhat different.
Let say, Melamine is a laminate, but not all laminates are melamine.
While Melamine is considered, and often referred to as, a direct or low pressure laminate (LPL) because it is manufactured with a pressure of 300-500 pounds-per-square-inch.
Layers of paper are saturated with a melamine resin until they are converted into a solid, plastic surface via thermal fusion.
The melamine sheets are banded together as one of the layers of plastic laminate, which is then bonded together with particleboard or to another backing material to create a durable plastic sheet, which is what is used to give products such as Formica an attractive surface.
Common uses of Melamine Board
Melamine laminate is a hard resin usually used as an overlay for building materials like MDF or plyboard.
In its most simple form, base is an organic compound that when combined with formaldehyde forms a durable thermosetting plastic.
Durability of Melamine
Melamine will most likely not shatter if dropped, like typical counter top products would, and is overall far more durable than any other traditional countertop material.
Melamine is relatively resistant to scratch marks from forks, knives, and other utensils that is why its more suitable in creating countertops for kitchen and cabinets.
Which is better? MDF VS Melamine Board
Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is stronger than melamine since it has usually been made using a less dense particle in the board than of those in the MDF.
In the US, it is common to make a counter top out of MDF (or plywood) and then face it with Formica or other melamine product.
