Hardwood Floors: Step-by-Step Guide Installation

Hardwood flooring is not as easy as pre-finished woods which offers the same appearance.

This step-by-step guide installation will help you how to install hardwood flooring.

Step 1: by using a Stapler, fastened the Vapor-Barrier Paper to the Base flooring.

First we need to get the square foot of the floor; all you need is multiply the width of the room by its length.

You may also need to allow at least 10 to 15 percent extra for irregular boards and marginal mistakes.

To avoid warps and extended gaps, the hardwood flooring need to be at least 50 or more hours prior to the installation in order to adjust in the humidity and temperature of the room.

Start by fastening the vapor-barrier paper to the sub flooring and allow at least 4 inches overlap on the vapor barrier paper.

If the subflooring squeaks, screw a long drywall screw to the subflooring. Joist where the squeak is located.

For a solid anchor, boards should be laid perpendicular to the floor joists.

Lay out the boards in a dry run to get right the pattern of shading and random length.

The first row should be face-nailed into the floor joists.

Step 2: Always allow for expansion

Leave at least 3/8 inches gap along the wall to allow for expansion then you can secure the floor boards with a pneumatic nail gun.

Always check the staples and nails for pneumatic nail gun since they are all different, for example, the Brazilian teak is much harder than the oak – so you might had a hard time getting the nails through or sometimes risk missing or damaging the floor.

The pneumatic tool gets the staples in at a precise 50-degree angle through the tongue. The staples will be covered up by the next piece that comes in.

Step 3: Always consider the flooring alignment

Nails pass through the tongue every 10 to 12 inches and the groove is then tapped to ensure the boards stay and fit snug.

Stagger boards at least 6 inches to prevent an awkward alignment of end joints.

If the gap for the last board is narrower than the board, cut the board lengthwise to fit the space.

Step 4: Using Nails, fastened the Baseboard in Place

After the last board, the baseboard is nailed in place.

Stain shoe molding to match flooring. One quick install and prefinished hardwood flooring will give you a lifetime of beauty and pleasure.
